KilledInAction (KIA) 22 June, 1944 when he collided with his wingman in Fw 190A-8 Wk# 171053 during a dogfight, over Alencon France, with an RCAF fighter piloted by F/O J.O. Fleming of No. 441 Sq.. Ditched in the Channel, with wounds, after aerial combat in Wk# 5212 on 23 November, 1940. Flew Bf 109F-2 Werk # 5434 "Black 3" in the S.U. in July, 1941. Flew Wk# 550314 as Stfkpt in 9/JG-2, making an emergency landing after aerial combat on 17 May, 1943, at Vannes-Meucon France. 15 Bombers, 56 Spitfires. 9 victories in the East. His first victory, a Battle west of Saarbrücken, 30 September, 1939. His 2nd, a Spitfire over England on 28 September, 1940. A 3rd & 4th, a Spitfire and a Hurricane 20 km N of Portland on 30 September, 1940. His 5th, a Spitfire 60 km N of Brest on 12 October, 1940. Nos.9 & 10, both Spitfires at Deal on 7 May, 1941. One of the top fighter pilots on the Channel Coast. Shot down twice over the Channel. His first known Soviet victory, a SB-2 N of Tauraggan on 22 June, 1941. On 19 August, 1942, near Dieppe, he achieved seven victories despite a broken leg and a brain concussion. Opposed the 6 March, 1944 Berlin Raid when he was Kdr III/JG-2.
